I have a regular Cooper with sunroof, and I find the visors to be basically useless and dangerous!!! Does anybody else feel that way too? The visors could use extensions, on both sides of each visor, but no such after-market attachment exists that I am aware of....is this a problem for most people or am I just crazy?

The Mini is manmade. It will always have it's imperfections...

My windshield is so pitted and hard to see through that I seldom find a need to use the visors.

But yeah, they're worthless. Even more worthless than the cup holder (which can at least be used to hold change). Maybe they'll redesign them in future models.

imperfections are excusable, this is just plain laziness. It's almost like the engineers never actually drove one. When I was a child my dad had a 911. He used to say that he wanted to fly a few Porsche engineers to Arizona and have them take a nice drive during the summer with the windows up. The visors are absolutley worthless, sort of like the sunroof mosquito netting.

I'm planning on 'manufacturing' a replacement visor or additional peices that may help. I'll repost if anything works.

Been discussed many times. The visors are the way they are so they don't interfere with the curtain airbags over the side windows.

^ Hummmm, despite the many times this has been discussed, I've never before heard that reason! How, pray tell, would they interfere with the SIDE curtain airbags if they were about 3" longer on the sides that point toward the rear view mirror?? That's where I think the imperfection lies...not on the side that's near the door (where the airbags are).

I think they would interfere with the side airbags because lots of people turn their visors to the side windows.

I actually don't have a problem with the visors but if there is a defect in this car , it is the roof line. I am not able to see most traffic lights when I stop at the line. Drives me nuts. I creep forward and look through the roof.....I forgive everything when I get on an on ramp though......

Last week we had a few days of sunshine. On a trip from a certain place to another going a certain direction at a particular time of day on that day of the year, my visors actually blocked out the sub for about one half hour!!!!

So... if you are ever exactly where I was, when I was, you too could make use of those visors. Outside of that... they're pretty much useless!

Godspeed.

I've made lots of little adjustments for the sheer joy of driving a MINI. No more Big Gulps...not a big deal, I use my MINI mug. No "panoramic" rear-view mirror...I learned to adjust my mirrors correctly and "no problem." Odd working visors...I move "me" to accomodate....or prop my hand up to add a bit of extra shielding. Point is....take some time and adjust. I've found that what were irritants at one time just don't seem to register anymore.
