lojack is just a tracking device, it has nothing to do with the alarm.......

Lojack has no externally identifiable lights, sirens or anything. In fact, you almost have to take their word that is has been installed, because it only rides around with you until it's activated by the police when your car is reported stolen. The whole idea behind Lojack is it's stealth; that thieves wont know it's there, so they can't find and deactivate it.

About remote starters: Since the MINI ignition system incorporates a starter disable circuit in the engine computer that requires the presence of the MINI key (and it's included 'chip') in the ignition to allow the engine to be started (not bypassed or hotwired) there is no simple solution for installing a remote starter. The key (or at least the chip from it) would have to be within the circular area around the ignition key cylinder for the engine ECU to read it, match it with it's own internal data and permit the engine to be started.

i think future celphones left in a car would serve the same purpose
to find your car.

That'd be sweet, "E911 compliant" MINI's... Beware though, if you hit that OnStar button and the voice on the other end goes "I'm with MINI USA..."

Or, you could put the car thru a reputable Cooper Obedience School (aka a "COS program&quot, and teach it to "SIT!... STAY!"

Peace, it's FRIIIDAY,
Tatt
