2006 R53 problem

Good afternoon,

I have been searching, but I cannot find any data on this sorry.

My girlfriend's 06 MCS has begun to shift funny, it sometimes holds revs longer than it should and shifts hard. Being it is an auto (paddle shifters) I thought it was just in the need of CVT fluid change, but I am now reading 06 MCS have Aisin transmissions which don't require changing fluid.

I am not sure what was done previously other than the oil changes I have performed in the past, planning to do plugs, filter, and an oil change tonight. Any help would be great, she commutes daily and I don't want it to breakdown on her. Thanks much,

Ryan

Flush and change it anyway. If there is a problem, it will be noticeable in the fluid (metal shavings etc).

They say you don't need to change the fluid but a lot of people do. Try this thread:

Thank you both, I am reading the thread now thank you Christie.

Does anyone know of a DIY for changing the Aisin fluid? I am guessing there may be link in that thread, and I would use just ATF right?

Thanks and excuse the ignorance, if I find the answers in that thread I'll post here for future reference.

I have an '06 MCSa as well and mine is shifting hard. Couldn't find any info on it and took it to 3 shops. Finally, BMW was the last resort and of course they said I needed a new transmission! It doesn't do it all the time, but it's not smooth by any means. I thought the Aisin tranny was bulletproof over the CVT?!

Good morning,

So I did the GFs 60k service on the mini, but I am still having problems shifting when it is hot. It literally feels like the car takes a while to engage when it should shift; the RPMS go up from 3.3 to about 4.8k then when it catches it slams into gear to drop the RPMS. I did only flush it twice (got 2.5 quarts each time and filled it with 2.5 each time but found no metal debris just a little dark). The trans doesn't have a leak so I am guessing the fluid level is spot on. I am doing an oil change in a few days when I plan to flush it one last time and check the level by putting it flat and removing the stand pipe.

Any advice would be awesome since I don't want her breaking down in her daily driver.

Have an awesome day NAM,

Ryan
