R50/53 Drive Belt Needs to be Replaced.
Yeah, don't try it without the tool unless you are handy with welding so that you can fashion something. There is not a lot of room in there and you won't be able to change the belt unless you lock the arm open.
The 535 length belt is just about perfect. Napa/gates is basicly the same...think my napa one said made by gates.......
The parts guy looked at you odd cuz the belt is shorter than stock...but the car is not stock....and the last time i checked the parts book, they listed a belt that was actually longer than the stock1388mmmm belt for the s....so their books are not very accurate.

SUCCESS! This morning I completed the removal and install of a new belt. I didn't purchase the Mini tool but was able to rent a universal serpentine belt tool from the O'Reilly's in town for free.
using a socket on the nut as I read in other DIYs I was able to untension the spring and remove the belt.
As you can see in the pic basically one line of grooves had torn off the belt.
