Custom Tuner Northern New England

Does anyone know of a good custom/dyno tune shop in Northern New England. Looking in the Maine / New Hampshire / Mass area. Have called a few places but they don't have much experience with MINI.

Good question!

I think we're in the boondocks as far as tuners are concerned. I remember it being a big deal with Jan (of RMW fame) was talking about a tuning day in the area (CT, I believe).

The only other name that comes to mind is Turner Motorsports in Amesbury, MA. It doesn't look like they do tuning, but they may know of someone....

If you haven't already done so you might also check out Massmotoringclub.com and post your question there.

Helix in Philadelphia is the next closest that I know of. Quite a hike from the NNE, though.

I haven't been able to find anyone in NE. Tried Turner, no luck. They only sell the Shark Tuner +12hp. TimL - anymore info on the tuner shop in CT? Philly is a seven hour drive for me.

I'm just shooting this out there, but would Greasy's Garage in Worcester, MA be of any help? If not, maybe they could point you in the right direction?

Greasy's doesn't do it but recommended ESP in Sterling, MA. They do BMW's. Called them but alas no MINI tuning. He told me I was welcome to the dyno if I could find someone to tune it.

I'm most likely going to have these folks tune it since I can't find a local shop.

When I was also checking to see the closest tuner from Vermont, RDZ Motorsports wrote that a tuning would take 3-5 hours and cost $495. and up.

I found a company called Custom Spooling that can do a remote tune for me. I know a few other folks that have used them with good results.

That is quite a hike, but not the furthest. We've had customers from Toronto and Cincinnati make the trek (the kicker being Philadelphia's cheesesteaks).

Helix13mini - what is the average cost for a MINI tune you provide? Considering making the drive down to see you guys. I have a 2003 MINI Cooper S. Mods include 15% pulley and Alta CAI.

Try looking into BrenTuning, I don't have any experience but I was talking to some friends and they said that he can tune MINI's

Apparently located in Worcester.

http://www.brentuning.com/index.html

Interestingly enough I recognize some of the car on the website and video lol

So am I. They just passed the first challenge - they can do the Works R53. The person responding to my inquiry has "B" as a signature - perhaps Mr. Bren?

In addition he inquired regarding the STX rule set, which tells me a lot - and all of it is very positive.

I will keep folks posted - I am hoping for good things. I've been seeking a Works tune for a while, and missed to chances to work with Jan due to timing.

All other things being equal, I'd be very pleased to work with a local business.

Cheers,

Charlie

I'm there with you, have been corresponding via email with "Bren". Looks like it's a go. He said the tune can take 1-6 hours depending on the software version in the ECU.

I'd be very interested to know how things work out for with Bren. After this winter I expect to go this route. Please keep us posted.

Maybe I should look into a tune too... hmmmm... Think he'll cut me a deal for bringing in business? lol

(no, I have no affiliation with him what so ever, I just know of him through local friends and forums)
