Just got my CR MCS on Monday and it had only 7 miles on it. I haven't had a chance to really go yet so I only have 58 miles.

Not to be a sour puss or something, but isn't this a mileage thread for R50/R53s?

40,500ish when put away for the winter.

How about the 500,000 mile Mini??

Anyone turn the 200,000 mark???

Good reminder- this is for R50/R53 (first generation) owners only, 2002-2006 model years here in the states.

Put away for the winter? I've never had a better winter car...

well mine had 100 thousand miles within my first 3 years of ownership over 50 thousand my first year .....now I’m well into my 200 thousand mile mark and going strong, same engine no oil consumption and great vacuum under idle,

so far been a fantastic car. I bought new back in 02 and since then don’t drive it much as its more of a special day car now with all the mods and such. funny though as when I compiled my driving habits on my other cars that I have since owning the mini I would have over 450,000 miles on my mini right now, CRAZY!!!

but yea it still drives like new as long as you keep up with the maintenance.

Our 2006 Cooper S hardtop has 76k miles. Bought new, old school maintenance schedule, daily commuter, going strong!
Only issues have been a motor mount and an O2 sensor both replaced at no charge by MINI. Still has original clutch, battery, supercharger.

lmao. Oh snap. I just click "new posts" and I didn't even realize this was in the R50/R53 forum. Excuse my presence. I'll crawl back over to my second gen Mini area.

Got 28K on my '06 JCW. Bought it with 8500 miles on it in '08. Does that mean I don't drive enough? My pickup is my work vehicle so I can save the "real driving" for the Mini.

I got mine in March/April 2010 and I'm up to 33,000. Most of that was the first year in helLA. Now that I'm up in SF the driving distances are much more reasonable.

Not a Million Miles Yet, - Not Even 1/2 Million - But,

My 2002 MC just passed 473,000 miles a few days ago.

Nothing else has changed much - except
I got married in November . . and
turned 86 in December.

Car still amazes me - and everyone who sees or drives it.
EVERYTHING still looks good -
and works just as it is supposed to -
nothing seems to be getting tired.

Sell it?
Why?

Wow. That speaks volumes about the reliability of our MINI. If it has not had any major mechanical issues and or parts, MINI should get it from you to study

You earn two very enthusiastic thumbs up for all of this. Congratulations on the marriage, the birthday, and the amazing mileage!

I just hit 96k on my '03 MCS. I've owned it for a couple of weeks so I can't really take credit-- but I will still do a little happy dance when I reach 100k.

I do remember you from MINI2 from a long time ago. Glad to hear you are still holding onto the car and congratulations on the marriage. You are an inspiration to us all. You can still look forward to enjoy life at 86!Can you share with us what has been you maintenance regime with the car?I am a firm believer than any modern automobile with proper care and maintenace can make it to a million miles. I guess in the current financial and job market people will tend to keep their cars running for a lot longer than ever before.MINI should give you a FREE new car if you go over 500K miles. Other brands have done the same with very high mileage owners (Saab, GM, Mercedes, etc). After all it is good publicity for them and the MINI really needs a boost of confidence from most people when it comes to reliability.

473,000 miles wow !

My old VW Thing had 280,000 miles before I sold it and it is still on the road. Then again, that was over a 30 year period vs. 10 years for the MINI.

From: twisties~Vermont tarmac rallye style
Orignal owner of a 2006 R53 just turned 49,494 miles today driving in the snow.

Most of my miles are on a daily rallye stage style road that twists over the mountain 10 miles to my work. Sometimes, icy, often times snowy in the winter with salted yuck. Soaking wet in the summer months, dusty and gravel strewn in the spring. You can count on frost heaves year round with rough pot holes. Northern Vermont is gnarley on cars and my location is considered to be extreme conditions.

My little MINI is rock solid and has never skipped a beat. I run Amsoil 5-30w and regular maintenance with factory oil and air filters. Keep it topped with all fluids and you should be good to go.

I'm still on my original brakes! Although, I must admit they are at the limit and I've recently purchased a 2009 > JCW Brembo Sports Brake Kit to upgrade too. A 50k mi BDay gift for my MINI.

I've also installed proper driving lights and a thick aluminum skid plate.

The only issues I've experienced so far are...

- The gearbox shifting mechanism needed lubricating. This sits on top of the gearbox underneath the airbox. Some white lithium grease did the trick, might need it yearly. Due to extreme conditions.
- Thermostat leaked, replaced under warranty.
- Replaced two passenger side motor mounts, one under warranty.
- PS reservoir return line was seeping, fixed under warranty.
- Rear wiper was making noise, replaced under warranty.
- Rear drivers side muffler seam has split, replacing today! with a full JCW exhaust off of 2006 MINI GP #0280
