This problem can be easily solved by riding the brakes hard in cold weather. The intense heat given off by the rotors will keep the ice buildup from occuring.

It seems like you have a nice slush turtle factory going there, Trip!

If they got rid of some extra space around the wheels could they shrink the car? That would be great.

When I got my MINI six months ago I didn't know what to do with all the extra space in my garage. Now I've filled it up and could really use even more.

Trippy,

Me thinks you need to buy some of those itty, bitty wheels like you see on the classic Minis. Then you'd have all kinds of room for storing ice for your slushys.

It ptobably won't make you feel better, but my Grand Am back in high school did the same thing. It isn't elegant, but hot water will take care of it pretty quickly.

Hey, Trippy. I just got an email from MINIUSA. My contact there is pretty good. They say that they'll lemon law your car if it doesn't resolve itself within the next four months.

I am SOOO glad I read the whole thread before jumping in and sending y'all a pic of my MINI with the same slush and more, front and back, AND with non-stock wheels. I figured it was the Blizzak tires I bought which must have something to do with the ice build up in the wheel well. Seriously, I kick off the slush every time I get out just like I have for all my other cars during 40 Illinois winters.

Yes, I was pulling your leg with this thread.

I love my MINI. I drive it, park it anywhere, put
snow tires WITH PLASTIC HUBCAPS on it,
toss in a 2X6 and plumbing pipes hanging out the
passenger window and generally have a good time.

It's got a small dent in the door, dents in the rear bumper
guard where I backed into a friend's car, dings and little
rashes in the inside, but after 2 years it is in superb
shape for a $20,000 car.

All I can say is, I'm so glad I live in California. The cost of living is higher, but looking at that ice cube makes me feel like it's all worth it.

California better? Lets see earth quakes, fires that burn down entire towns, mud slides, floods, killer bees, strange politicians. Sounds like living in the old testament.

Jack, you are so right! It's really difficult living out here in California, so don't even think of moving to this dangerous state. Anyway, gotta get my shorts and T-shirt on and go to the beach! Sorry I can't help you dig your MINI out of the snow. Bye!

Living here in Germany, we see some snow also. I did notice the buildup of slush behind the frong wheels. But because I opted to run my summer performance tires this winter I didn't get the build-up you did!

NO- NO - you have it all wrong! The hubcaps are provided by Tire Rack EXPRESSLY to use to remove the snow boogers! The hubcaps are made of a special plastic that looks just like (but not quite) cheap plastic and is just the right thickness (thinness) to slide between the tire and the wheel well. Once placed between the tire and wheelwell then back up with the DSC off and the snow boogers will dissapear!

My personal problem is that my Land Rover drops off it's snow boogers in my driveway and they are too big for the MINI to drive over. I am gonna complain about this because BMW owned Land Rover at the time mine was built and I think it was an intential design so I couldn't drive the MINI in the winter since it is blocked in by these 2 foot tall snow boogers from the Landy.

Oh, no WAY!!!!!

If anyone has any doubts about my sarcasmic abilities,
this thread should put a stop to it.

I am, if I do say so myself, THE MAN!!!!

I'm calling ASK-MINI, but I keep getting a fast-busy signal.
I'll post their reply when I get through to them.
