R50/53 Code Readers
Code Readers
I recently purchased a 2005 R53 and I'm thinking about picking up a code reader. I've already got a DSC light that is coming on after a bit of driving, and I think it might be worthwhile to pickup a code reader since I plan to do most (all?) of my own maintenance. Has anyone used the Peake or Bavarian Mini reader/reset tools? Will they pickup codes such as which wheel speed sensor has failed, etc.? From reading other threads, it seems like the dealer tools can tell exactly which wheel speed sensor, etc. has failed, and I'm wondering if these little $130 scan tolls can do the same.

The OBDII readers like the Peake (I have one) read OBDII engine codes very well,
but they don't read the ABS system (which would include wheel speed sensors, etc.)
nor the SAS system (airbags). The dealer's scanner (Siemans GT1 or similar) can read
and reset those, and do some other programming chores as well.
