R50/53 Upcoming maintenance day
Upcoming maintenance day
I bought my car one year ago with 35,000 miles on it. It just turned 52,000.
In the last 17,000 miles I've done:
I'm doing my oil changes at a 7,500 mile interval so I'm a little over that right now. I know the inspection II is supposed to occur at 60,000 miles but I'm thinking about bumping it up a little bit since I'm unsure when the filters were replaced and because I overheated my brake fluid a while back and it really needed to be flushed.
This is what I'm thinking about doing in one fell swoop:
Is there any other preventative maintenance I should be doing at this point in time? Should I flush the diff and transmission? Are there any other things I should look at while I'm in there? I know the thermostat was improved after 2004, but should I just wait for that to fail?
Thanks. Oh, and if anyone in the Phoenix area has a pulley tool I could use for a day, please let me know. I'll pay a rental fee for it.
In the last 17,000 miles I've done:
- Inspection, but not a full on inspection I-- I can't really tell when the inspec I was because the previous owner drove it so little, she did change the oil every 5,000 miles though so it should have been around 30,000 miles
- Two oil changes
- Coolant flush and expansion tank replacement (already brown again
) - Brake fluid flush (needs another)
- Motor mount
- Battery

This is what I'm thinking about doing in one fell swoop:
- Home grown inspection II
- Brake fluid flush
- WMW 15% pulley kit with the spark plugs and belt
- 2005 power steering fan air duct

Your list looks good to me. I would suggest:
if you dont do the pulley reduction/belt, change your belt!
I did everything you listed above, I got my mini in the 30,000 miles range and now I am at 55,000.. I ripped my Supercharger off and serviced that a little, honestly it did not need it, the oil seemed OK and while I had it off I replaced the snout.
