R50/53 sunroof wind deflector; yes or no?
The only advantage I could see to a sunroof wind deflector is that it might allow you to remove the one built into the stock sunroof (those two black flaps that stick up when the roof is opened?). It's the flaps that cause most of the sunroof rattle for those of us so-affected. Otherwise, I think that an aftermarket deflector is sort of ugly and messes up the lines of the car. IMO.

My MINI sunroof is very noisy at higher speeds. The built in wind deflectors are not nearly as effective at reducing wind noise as the deflector on my 98 Lumina. It's likely that the add-on deflector would reduce wind noise considerably. The one on my Lumina was $29 and looks fine. I bet the MINI one is a lot more.......

The deflector that the catalog has works WONDERFULLY. Or at least it does on other cars. The built in deflectors are usually marginal at best. While I think these are not so attractive either, they are great at what they are sold for. They reduce the wind noise considerably.
Just don't let it fly off the car and hit the car behind you. I know, people get p*&^*d over the slightest things.

From what I hear the deflector in the catalog is the same as the ones you can buy at an auto parts store for about $25-$30 or so. They help a bit, but the touble is that the sunroof on the MINI is so large that you are still going to have a bit of noise anyway...
