I'm closer than ever to getting my MINI! I've been saving up/paying down in preparation and should be able to get one this summer. My question is, should I wait for the '05? When was the '04 made available last year? Wasn't it in august? I assume the '05 will come with another price increase, or at least an increase to the options and option packages. If this is likely I'll probably get an '04. On the other hand, if the '05 has enough enhancements and quality improvements I might wait. I'm definitely not waiting for the new engines. They may not be available until 2007. Any thoughts MINIacs?

Waiting is bad.

Are you planning on getting a loan? Interest rates are good right now, and it's possible you could end up paying more by waiting.

I'm not too concerned about the interest rates. A full 2% jump between now and the summer, which I doubt, will only make a difference of about $15-20

Something better will ALWAYS come along ...
Get the MINI and have some fun *now* - otherwise maybe you should (as you hint) wait for the '08 or for some different manufacturer to bring out a car you like or whatever ... but never then will you enjoy today.

The MINI is not perfect - but I love driving it.

Well, that's the impression I get from these forums. I've been reading these for a while now while I save up for my mini. Initially I was a bit surprised by the number of issues people were having with their cars. However, almost everyone, despite these issues, LOVES their MINI and doesn't regret the purchase for a moment.

The new model year starts in September...there's no variability to that basic fact. The first 2005 model year cars will show up at dealers by the end of September.

$20x60 = $1200 = New wheels = Navi = Aero Kit = etc

Don't wait, if you can afford the car, buy it.

The trouble with waiting until the '05s is that MINI doesn't realease all the improvements for the upcoming model year at the same time.

You could be hit by a bus and die next week, in which case you never would have had the chance to own/drive/love a MINI.

Wouldn't that be sad?

True, getting hit by a bus would suck! But if I survived and made a full recovery I could sue the bus company and buy a fully loaded MCS with JCW pkg and that would be awesome! Then I could trade it in when the one with rockets comes out!

I don't know about that as buses in my area are covered by no fault insurance...which means that no matter who was at fault, you pay.
