had a friend ask me an interesting question , he said "how do you know this is a real MC-40? so I thought I might ask the veterans what to look for and how to respond to him

 

I guess if done exactly right, you couldn't tell, but I doubt anyone has ever gone to the trouble. I guess I would look at the options and figure if you have them all. It would need to be red w/ white roof, no sunroof, rear foglight, exterior chrome grill / mirrors / driving lights / boot handle, carbon dash, red & black leather seats, anthracite trim around gauges, matte finish shift **** with MC40 logo, MC40 rubber mats, magnetic number plates, and brass plaque signifying number out of 100 with Paddy Hopkirk's signature. I may not have mentioned some items & some that are easily removed might be gone or missing, but I think that should give you a pretty good idea. You can also look at pictures of other members MC40s for comparison. You can always try giving your vin to a dealer and seeing if they can look it up. Hope I helped. Happy Motoring!

 

I'm not sure if the anthracite R90's wheels are specific to the mc40's but the seats are. The red/black leather combo in mc40's is unique to the model. Like Ghostpedal mentioned, your dealer should be able to tell you using your VIN.
