Want to upgrade the stock suspension on my '05 R53. I have the helix camber plates, so was wondering was suspension works under those camber plates? I was looking to possibly do coilovers or just change the struts. I was thinking of doing koni yellows, but I can't get to the adjuster on the top with the camber plates there. I run 205-55-16 tires and have little clearance in the rear between the tire and the rear suspension. So I can't lower the car all that much. I have 56k on a car that has gone from daily driver to fun weekend car/track car only. So everyday use is not a consideration. Any info/suggestions you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

 

You may want to consider Koni FSD's, as they won't lower the car very much. Nice shock for street and track.

 

The FSDs aren't supposed to lower the car at all, you can only use them with stock springs.

 

There are lots of threads on NAM about the amount of lowering that actually occurs with the FSD's, and after having them installed on my R53, I can say that they do lower by about 1/4 to 1/3 inch. As you said, they should be used with stock springs.
