R50 speedometer needle not on zero at rest

2002 R50. Speedometer needle does not point at zero at rest. Is this something controlled by software or a mechanical fix is required? It sucks because the speedometer reading is off because of this. I've been ignoring it for years now but just wondering if there's a simple fix to correct this.

Here's a picture of it:

I'm pretty certain you can take the needle off and recenter it on zero. People replace the dial faceplates and have to do that during the install. Maybe search "faceplate" in the how-to section...

Thank you HRM. I found this relevant thread on resetting the needle to zero. This should make a good project in a few months when the weather warms up. It is -25C outside right now with about 2 feet of snow fallen over the past week.
