R50/53 MY BUILD UP, continued...
Still not quite done, I had to re drill and tap the hole in the back of the S/C that holds the inlet pipe on, because the bolt went in crooked.
Not really a big deal though, Sprintex left plenty of meat in the casting to go to a larger bolt. The ATI damper slid on perfectly and the three bolts for the A/C delete where a no brainer. I will be done tomorrow night if all goes well. All that is realy left is the couple wires for the water pump, slap the I/C back on, put the belt on, and put the front of the car back where it goes.
As far as the total install goes it is easy, but smaller hands would of been helpful.
Heres todays pic's:
Broken stock crank pulley who would of ever figgured.

Replacement parts (Thanks WAY, and VISA)

This is how the car looks right now, could of been done tonight.

Hey Joe, you can run the Sprintex with the factory A/C I just chose to drop that extra weight, and get rid of the A/C that didnt work. To do the install you dont even need to remove the compressor, and the condensor can be swung around to the driver side.
I am on my way back out to the garage to finsh her up. I might run a couple data logs tonight and post them up if I can remember how I did the last ones.
And YES Jan, I will be sure that the car is at full opperating temp.

C ya,
Dutch
It's ALIVE!!!
Just did the first startup, and let it warm to opperating temp. AFR's are good at idle, and unloaded reving. The New sound at idle is amasing! I think I will like it better than the M45's whine.
It revs a whole lot quicker than it did at WOT, and when you jump off of it, you are greeted with a beautiful LOUD whistle. (Sounds similar to a turbine engine on start up
)
I havent got a chance to take her out, there is about a half inch of HAIL on the ground, and I dont even want to chance it on water right now.
I still need to do a final inspection, and install the wheelwell liners and bumper cover.

You mean I need to learn how to use YouTube.
Come on man look how long it took me to figgure out how to do more than one pic per post.
I might get an account set up, or you could come on the MINI5280 ride Sunday and see it for yourself.

We will all want to check it out, remember the group leaves from Golden Starbucks at 9, so get there a bit early so we can ogle the work.
Nice job, sorry about that hail, I was driving back from Loveland about the time that crap hit, toll-way was a lake.
CM started to hydroplane. :(

If anyone has an iPhone its extremely easy to upload from, and the sound from the iphone recording is actually quite accurate.
See my completely pointless test upload of a .45 being fired for my proof of clarity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HjecdxaefM
And for posting youtube videos here on the forum, the youtube button doesn't work You just have to link it.
Haseo* =]
Awesome. I'm really thinking of doing this once i pull the trigger on another car. Im subbed to this thread so i'll continue to monitor =]
goodluck and i love the work you've done.
Just got back from a test drive in the rain! Even easing into it once I hit 3500 RPM all I could get is wheelspin. It just pulled like hell then started to kick sideways every time I tried. If the roads where only dry I could of taken some logs, but with the rain I didn't even bother.
I was however watching all the gauges, so heres the technical:
Airbox Temp = 50 degrees (Taken off of relocated outside air temp sensor)
PRE I/C temp = 110 - 145 (Higher temp when heatsoaked 15min sit time)
POST I/C temp = 65 - 90 (Higher temp when heatsoaked 15min sit time)
Coolent temp was same as stock (chrono pack gauge)
Boost pressure = 10.5 psi (@6000ft altitude with 70mm pulley)
Exhaust temp = 450 at idle - 1200 3rd gear WOT (on an on ramp spinning the wheels all the way to the highway!)
AFR = a little lean (havent got a chance to redo the tune)
The S/C does still whine at WOT just not as much as the Eaton, plus all the whistles I described earlyer.
A little thing I also discovered was that the water pump will stay running for 5 minutes after the ignition is turned off, that will help out at the drag strip.
And the pic's: (Sorry still no video)
This is un related but, heres the hail!

Ok OK... Right before the front end started going back togeather.

All covered up, why cant somebody make a transparent radiator?

If you look in the right place, something is obviously NOT STOCK.

And after the rainy test drive.

EVASIVE, DON, hope to see you guys Sunday, I will be early.
Joe, See you at MITM in august
Haseo461x, The Sprintex is avalible to the public now, pricing is fair, send me a PM for details if needed.
Agarwaen,D-MAN, I will do my best to get some VID's
The Build is not done, body work is next, along with tuning and more updates.

Yep that is the S/C oil fill plug, needs an oil change every 12K miles.
And yes I will be doing a lot of tuning the next couple weeks, done on the road by myself, no dyno yet, just data logs.
You will see Sunday.

You will see Sunday.Well I got some work done today, and it looks like I will get more done tomorrow.
Today I installed my Craven shifter, and guted the cat on my header so I can get those widebands up and running.
I did the shifter first since evertyhing was already off and out of the way, and it looks awsome, a little touch of clasic hot rod for the interior with the white **** and polished shift lever. Oh almost forgot to thank WAY for sharing the secret of how to get the linkage off the stock lever thismorning.
The shifter pics where taken when it was starting to get dark in the garage but you get the idea.

I like this shift **** and I see later in the thread that you posted where you got it. What size did you opt for? Smaller than stock, same or bigger? It looks like they have a few size options available. Good prices too!
My shift ball is the 2.5" (The biggest they sell) it is about the same size as stock, but unfortunately it is lighter. It is still a nice looking **** though, and I would buy from them again.
The rain just wont stop! I am going to start a little tuning on a totaly new map tonight and get a good idle.
