And it starts!

Dispite the rain in Denver today, my tank is half full of E85 with the other half regular 91 crap gas. I just ran my first set of idle logs, and it's a bit lean. Thats to be expected, I havent altered the fuel tables yet. The KNOCK levels are averaging around a 40, so I can bring timing up even at idle.

I will post more as I go along today, I am taking the week OFF of the day job so I have time.

Just made my first series of adjustments. The first ride revealed that I had the global fuel map (controlls the strength of the injector pulse, used to scale the injectors) set pretty close from the adjustments I made in the garage. I was still pretty lean down low, and was a few points off of my target AFR midrange. My timing also needed some small tweaks, the KNOCK levels are down pretty far across the board, so I will be playing with it to see what I can do.

Now its time for another ride, to get some more logs.

Well after the 3rd set of adjustments, all is pretty good again! AFR holds steady at around a 12.3ish but drops to an 11.7ish at 7K rpm, pretty much perfect for alcohol. Yes 12's are lean for pump gas, but with the added protection of the alcohol you can get away with running a little lean as long as your KNOCK is in check.

I just made a couple more minor tweaks, loaded it to the car, and after I get something in my stomach I'll git back at it, and go test it out.

Still leaning out down low for about the first second of all the runs, unless I am already on the throttle. I think I am missing something, I already sent a message out to the Boys of Mynes.

If this last adjustment dont work, I'm calling it a day until tomorrow.

Well I'm down to only half a tank of this mixed gas to burn off tomorrow! All is well, and I cant wait for 100% E-gas. Ahh tomorrow.

Time to git-r-done! It shuldnt take me long to work out the one or two bugs left in this tune, so I can use it in emergancy's where I cant find E85.

I just got that perfect idle with 100% E-gas! She purs like a kitten at 945RPM no bumps, no sputters, just holds a perfect 14.7 AFR. It will probably change a little once the adaptives set in, but for now I'm moving on to some minimal load stuff, searching for that magical AFR number.

Joe, when you get to Colorado in August, YOU gotta ride in this thing! (IF size of @$$ supports the size of the seat. )

My AFR's acording to the logs, where a little lean in spots, even for alcohol. I just made some adjustments, and am back on my way out.

My GLOBAL fuel scale is off , no matter how hard I try it just wont add any more fuel! The first pull looked great but once the adaptations started to kick in everything went to crap. I'm done for the night, time to start again tomorrow, it shuldnt take long, I'm really getting the hang of what to do.

You are clearing the old adaptations out each change, correct?

Yes I am, and I also wait the 5 minutes for the ECU to shut down every 3rd time, or every time I take it for a drive.

I am going out to reload the tune before the last one I did. I changed the main fuel map so much in the last one that I would rather change the GLOBAL on the one with the least ammount of fuel added.

The engine is 100% cooled down so it might help some of the COLD START stuff at the same time.

The cold start is still a little rough, but outside of that it's looking real good again. Time for some street logs.

Looking forward to your report, with even more bug-collecting "eek" faces and an even longer "WWWWOOOOWWWW!"

Still no luck with getting enough fuel! I'm going to take some good advise CRANK THE #### out of the global, (well within reason) and see what happens!

Finally getting enough fuel! I really wasnt that far off with a good GLOBAL, so I just made my 1st round of tweaks. I would take it out but the fuzz must of cought on to me, it's looking like a dirty lint trap in my neighborhood! Guess it's time for a break.

Good to hear you're in the ballpark.

Bummer about the bear infestation in your area. Bears can be a pain. Hopefully they'll wander off soon....

The fueling side will be done tonight except the cold start stuff, but the timing stuff will need to wait until tomorrow.

IMHO, my MINI right now would wax the EVO I had when it was stock.
