R50/53 Reunion Time: I can't wait December 2002
#1
Well tomorrow is the big day it will be 1 year since I got to say I'm outa here for the December 2002 I Can't Wait club.
I thought that it would be good to hear from the alumni about their first year with the newest member of their family.
Here are the stats on our car:
Name Smileee
Miles driven 18,000
Fun factor: almost to the point of being illegal
We have had one great year. Started off on our first motoring adventure to a foreign country Canada and ended up hanging with one of the greatest bunch of MINI owners around the Southern Ontario MINI Club. Later on we discovered that there was a Western NY MINI Club and there was even more fun to be had.
Laurie and I have taken Smileee to numerous events a high performance driving school, a TSD Rally or two along with various meets and shows At MINImeet 2003 in Kingston Ontario where we hung with 47 other like minded owners. Some serious track time in Kingston and Smileee was on the front page of the local paper (a star is born).
We were in Toronto for the release meet of the Italian Job DVD. Fifty seven MINIs a helicopter and several police officers tied up traffic at lunch time for 2 hours .
This time we were on the national news.
Here at home or dealer Towne MIN threw all of the owners a happy birthday party. There we got to hang out with some quite famous folks.
To finish off the year Smileee and her friends from MINImeet 2003 are now part of the NAM calendar.
After a first year like that the wait we went through is just a distant memory.
Jack, Laurie, and Smileee
