cloth seats are all cloth, no mixes. U do know there are no lumbar supports, right? To get LS U have to get leather/cloth or full leather, weird, I know. Jimbo

Thanks Jimbo. And I'll assume that goes for the headrest as well.

Don't really care enough about lumbar support to spring for a leather upgrade. Standard seats are comfortable enough for me.

Yessir. Oh I just mentioned the LS because there are folks that don't realize this until it's too late. I mean, my MA never mentioned it. Jimbo

That's what I figured, that they're more comfortable year round than the vinyls. When it came time to placing my order it was a no brainer for me to order the cloths. In fact, if there had been a charge for cloth I would have paid the premium just for the comfort factor. ... I really don't see why anyone would prefer the vinyls. Maybe just for the leather-pretend-look. But when it comes to seating comfort, it's the cloths hands down. I optioned my car as a commuter car: high gas mileage (base Cooper), Xenons (for night driving), and cloth seats (for comfort during the long work commute).

I chose cloth for the looks and grip.. It seems that all the materials used are of good quality... so it's just a matter of preference....

IIRC out of the 16-18 cars my wife and I have owned, one has had leather, 3 or 4 have had vinyl, and the rest have all been cloth seats. Definitely love my cloth seats in the Mini, and wouldn't have it any other way given a choice. Its great we have a choice (again) of the three different materials, but mine will always be cloth.

I had the space cloth, all cloth, seats and head rests, in my '02 MCS and put over 37,000 smiles on in 3 years. They looked like new when I traded it in on my new '06 MCS with, you guessed it, space cloth.

My cars are daily drivers and my commute is fairly short, so lots of getting in and out. Lots of potential wear.

No problems with staining, allergies, dust, retained smells, or yuck (whatever that is).

Extremely happy with the fabric seats.

2003 with 38.000 miles

Cloth began ripping at the rear of the seat, right where the seatbelt latch is.

under warranty, so in order to replace the entire cover, the mechanic had to take the seat out of the car. in doing, he badly damage the door panel, which was also later replaced.

now my seat squeaks getting in and out. :[

50,408 miles on my MINI. Cloth seats the whole time. Worst stain ever? The Chocolate Crean Frappacino I dumped in the car geting in it after the thrid day of ownership. Cleaned up fine, but knew then and there, no more drinking in the car!

I wish I had cloth seats, as the leatherette is too hot for my taste, and doesn't breath well, at least IMHO. Anyone use any aftermarket seat covers they like?

I opted for the red cloth/leather combo. For me, they offer the best of both worlds; fantastic grip and the lumbar support option. My wife's MCS has the leather seats and I'm forever adjusting position as I'm constantly "slipping" down the seat base. With the cloth, I'm firmly planted and the difference is night and day. I used to lust after the JCW seats....not anymore (apart from the coolness factor ).

I've had both cloth and leather in the past with different cars, this MINI will be pleather. I agree that cloth is nicer in that it remains cooler in summer, and 'breathes' a bit better (for naked motoring, I suppose). But in any properly made seat, you're not going to be sliding off of leather. The reason why I'm going pleather here is simple – no black cloth option(?!)

I was tossing and turning about what to choose, and in the end I just looked at my lifestyle - I'm very outdoorsy, like to throw stuff in the car, etc. That narrowed it down to the leathrette... The cloth seats in my Honda are GROSS! I hit them the other day and all sorts of crap came flying out... Anyhoo, then I was torn between the grey/black and black leatherette since the grey/black turns the doors grey in a MC, and I didn't like the idea of an all-black interior at first either. In the end I finally chose the standard panther black leatherette as it will be the least likely to show all the stains, etc. I will probably hate it during the Summer, but I also don't plan on living in a hot climate for the next 10 yrs

Oh, also, even if I wanted the cloth, they don't even offer an alternative to the ridiculously bright space cloth if you get the sports seats... I had to upgrade the seats as the standards are ick!
