Howdy, all.

First time here. Don't own yet, but am drooooooooling over these beauts.

Which leads me to my question: In your learned opinions, which should I get, the MC or the MCS? And how long is the waiting list in Arizona, really?

Thank for all your thoughts, and here's to dreams of ownership...

Welcome to the site Chips.
You've come to the right place.....

As for your question.... That my friend is the big question.... And the answer is.... What ever you want. Both the Cooper and Cooper S are great fun! It's up to your taste, driving style, options wanted, etc..... as to which one you will pick.

happy motoring,
SW

Welcome to the Group. Relativly new myself. My biggest advice to you is drive both models and then think long and hard about what you really need/want. I like to drive aggressivly (when it is safe to do so) and enjoy the power that the MCS can bring. The MC is peppy as it is and for most of my driving needs will be more than adequate. If you want the MCS be prepared for a longer wait (7-11 months here in Philadelphia vs 4-6 for the MC) and higher longer term maintenance costs. Run flats are more expensive than regular tires to replace and to fix a supercharger on the MCS is more costly than the engine on the MC. This long term higher overhead is what is keeping me from ordering the MCS. That and the fact that Pepper White is only available on the MC. My order isn't due for another month and it seems that I keep changing my mind weekly. High performance (MCS) verses super cool cooler and more $$ to get more options (MC with Xenons, premium/cold packages, etc). In the end the decision will be up to you. But...do NOT expect it to be an easy one. This is a hot topic here on MCO and a search of the archives may provide some insight for you from a large variety of people.

Either way it is a Mini and the coolest, most enjoyable car around (other than a Porsche 911 turbo GT2).! Welcome to the cult my son!

Welcome to the site! Whichever way you go, you will love your decision.....

Some things to consider...which color/body style you like the best (because some colors are Cooper or S specific), where do you live, do you do alot of highway driving, etc.......

I think everyone on this site loves their Mini the best....it's just a matter of finding out what works for you!

You can't go wrong with a Mini!

Chips, In regards to which model, drive both and then decide. They both are cool. I drive an S but I like to hammer everything I drive. In regards to the Arizona dealership, I got mine off their showroom floor at list price. I went there to testdrive one and they had three Cooper S' and several Coopers in stock. This was on labor day weekend and I don't know if that is a normal situation or not. If you live in the area, going in is probably your best bet.

Good luck and remember you won't go wrong with which ever one you choose.

Thanks everyone for the infor and opinions. I suspect I'll go with a MC because I can't stand waiting too long for this car! (gottagottahaveitnow!)

Any more comments and suggestions would be very welcome, and thanks for the warm welcome.

AAAAAIIIIIEEEEEEEE!!!

Sorry,

actuall, i'm proud of everyone for not letting this one become a bicker fest...

my rule of thumb... City Drivin? MC, Highway/Country Drivin? MCS...

But try them both on for size, and see what you like...

Well I've had my MCS just a week now and it gets better every day! I must say It is perfect, no complaints. The car, not me, has become sort of a celebrety in town. People point and smile, ask alot of questions, and grin. I can't get anywhere on time. The whole thing is really a blast.
