R50/53 Ford Focus (blargh)
<bashing>
Well, I went and drove one after reading (laughing at) the Consumer Reports article.
I usually refer to them as Consumer Retards because they don't have a single engineer working for them much less a mechaical or automotive one. I remember when the Dodge Omni came out as the first widely available front-drive car. They wrote it could be dangerous if you drove the car quickly in reverse and cranked the wheel. but alas, I digress...
After driving it I'm convinced that CR is on the take from Ford. Nevermind the fact that they didn't compare it to the S.
The fit and finish on the car is no where near as good as the Cooper(s) I've sat in and driven.
Salesman: "What do you think of the styling?"
Me: "I think it would be a good idea."
(Thanks to Mr. Ghandi)
It looks like something out of a Japanese monster movie or any other low-budget SciFi movie. In a word: Triangles. Blech! Then you get to the interior and it's a bunch of ovals and curves. (scream)
Am I biased? You bet, but I'm open minded too. I was going to get a Subaru WRX before I drove a Cooper. Ford (and anyone) has the same opportunity to unseat it in my mind.
Sigh... I can't wait to get the Cooper.
"The Mini Cooper, for those who understand no explaination is necessary. For those who don't, none will do."

Well really, I doubt they do, when it comes to auto reviews.. It's not a car mag, it's a consumer mag... the average reader isn't Mr. Joe Dipstick... it's Mrs Gertrude Gladfly... and just like any review, you have to take it with a grain of salt... Do you think i would turn to People Magazine to tell me which music was good, or what movies to watch? No, because i'm not their target audiance... I'm looking for things that their average reader is not looking for. Same with CR...
