Has anyone been to the factory in Oxford? Are tours available/allowed?
Not spending Thanksgiving break and last two days of vacation time
with family this year cause I'll see everyone at Christmas so I'm looking
for someplace to go or maybe I'll just rent a MINI for the weekend since
mine won't be here until January. Has anyone been to England?

I have been to England. I live here!!!!!!!!
I am not sure if the Oxford factory allow visitors. Believe me, I can think of better ways of spending your days off than coming over to England. Its cold and raining at the moment.
Just booked my holiday (vacation) for next year and I am coming State side. Orlando, FL for two weeks next June. Cannot wait.

If you check out http://www.bridger.us/mini there are links on where to rent MINIs in the UK. I've been to England several times and it's a beautiful place with a lot of history, friendly people, fantastic sightseeing, and terrific beer (not necessarily in that order).

Driving in the UK is very easy as all roads are marked very well. I prefer the winding country roads to the major highways there. Although, if you go, a spin on the M25 (London beltway) is a must to get the blood going. For a driving tour around London, I'd recommend Cambridge, Canterbury and Dover. While in London, I'd forgo the car. The tube and cabs will take you anywhere you need to go.

My last trip was to north England and I liked that even better. Check out Harrogate, York and maybe even further north towards Scotland. And I'll be jealous if you get to do that in a MINI.

I'd recommend Scotland if you're going to be over there. Lots of castles, lots of twisties.

England is loads of fun, no matter the weather. I've been in February, March, June, July and it was always fun.

Boyracer, make sure you let the Florida folks know your comming and we will set up a meet for you. http://www.sunshineminis.org

You could always stay home, look up your nearest soup kitchen and help pass out turkey dinner.

Six days off huh? Must be nice, for those of us who work in retail, if we call in sick on the day after Thanksgiving ("Black Friday&quot, we'd better be dead.
