omfg...resetting ECU...AMAZING. We bought a used 03 about three months ago and hadn't reset the ECU. Lots of bunny-hopping when using the CVT, low idle problems, tachometer inaccuracy issues. Resetting the ECU seems to have solved all of the above. HOORAY! Thanks for this post, wish I had found it sooner!

I'm new here and new to minis. My boyfriend just bought me an '03 BRG (s) a little under a month ago and this will absolutely come in handy.

Thank you so so much. *big sigh* of reliefhttps://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ilies/grin.gif

Wow! I'm a new Mini owner and just now found this thread. I know it is an old thread, but I must say a huge "THANK YOU" for consolidating so much info that us R53 owners need!

Well, you might get your wish... I'm at 120k miles and have had a noise that sounded like a pulley, tensioner, or waterpump bearing on it's way out. It's been getting progressively worse, so I picked up a stethoscope, and the SC is definitely grinding. Once I find a replacement, it looks like I'll be diving into that project as well. I guess I can tackle it and my failed AC compressor at the same time. I've only been putting up with no AC for 2 years now..

Question about ECU

Hey Everyone!

I bought my R53 in Jan 2011. I didn't reset the ECU to actually learn my driving style. Is it too late? Should I reset it? Has it already learned my style?

Wish I would have found this thread sooner!

Awesome thread! Thanks so much!

Woohoo, found a write-up, so I'm off the hook. Have to tackle this one weekend.

I read that Dicks garage R53 has a Sprintex supercharger on his R53.

Maybe there is a way to add a drain/fill valve that will make it easier to do maintenance on it instead of waiting for it to go out like the dealer suggested to me

Not sure who makes the best A/C units for the Mini are but when you find out could you post your results here for others?

Okay, so I'm not sure if this was already posted on here since I did a quick skim through this thread again....

I found this thread on the MINI2 Forum and it's a MINI DIY & FAQ for all generations in regard to wheels, torquing specs, weight specs, tire specs, etc. that are stock on MINI wheels. I used this when I was wanting to know the weight difference between my OEM wheels and my O.Z. WRC Racing wheels.

Very handy!!

Just got finished with replacing the Supercharger, waterpump, radiator fan, and AC compressor. I added a couple more resources to the original post to include putting the car in service mode, replacing the supercharger, and replacing AC components. ENJOY!

minismaniac... are you still needing help with your supercharger? where in PA are ya located, I might be able to help ya out.

Great info! A couple of questions?

Hi - Thanks for this it is great! I have a 2004 MCS that was a bit vandalized and I am restoring it. Runs great! Love the car. Have done a lot of stuff, got everything pretty much working but...
2 Issues
1. Can't figure out how to check the back-up light bulb - don't know how to get to it.
2. BIG problem - Low beam Xenons not working, both out. Neither work, any insight into troubleshooting. Low beams work fine, all other lighting inside and out working great.

Would love to fix these two things. thanks!
