It comes as no surprise to me that the music preferences of MINI owners cover the spectrum - Beethoven to fiddy cent and everything in between. How cool is that? My preferences are Early Beatles, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Elvis Costello, The Clash among many others. There is a VERY cool song from David Crosby on his "Oh, Yes I Can" CD called "Drive My Car" that has a great feel. Check it out...

My MINI seems to be a bit of a "rude boy".... It likes Ska right now

-The (english) Beat
-Specials
-Even US ska-core like the Bosstones works very well.

I have to admit my first music in the car coming home from the dealer was an obvious choice:

-The Clash - "London Calling"

For urban slicing through traffic, the Clash's "White Riot" seems to go very well with the whine of the super-charger!

As noted above... Wilco is awesome if you have not heard their music.

>>I keep my MINI CD holder stocked with plenty of Ween CDs...their entire catalog as a matter of fact. And also a few CDs from Princeton's own Chris Harford. http://www.chrisharford.com and http://www.ween.com <<

Yes! Another Ween devotee! By "entire catalog," do you include the Push The Little Daisies EP, with Mango Woman on it? I can listen to that song on repeat for an hour! My MINI sports a huge 8" boognish decal in the rear passenger window.

Well I know me and NFO are listening to OutKast (I imagine he doesnt spend too much time here with his car having been totaled, hopefully he gets that PW S)

Other than that here's my list

OutKast
Dungeon Family
Cee-Loo Green
Big Gipp
Killer Mike
Nerd
Clipse
Lil John
Youngbloodz
Nas
Slum Village
The Roots
Musiq

But I mostly listen to OutKast every time I drive, it's a rare occassion for it not to be in any of my CD players.

Well, when I picked up Burnie I had a special CD burned just for the occasion (called "Made for Motoring&quot. Here's the playlist:

Sunshine Pig Chris and Tad (From MINI productions #1)
Hot Rod Lincoln Commander Cody
Roadrunner The Modern Lovers
Brand New Cadillac Clash
Crankshaft Fiends
Devil In My Car B-52's
Warm Leatherette Grace Jones
5ive Gears In Reverse Elvis Costello
Let's Buzz The Paladins
Mustang Sally Wilson Pickett
Route 66 Rolling Stones
Born To Run Bruce Springsteen
Middle Of The Road The Pretenders
Rev It Up & Go Stray Cats
Cadillac Cruisin' Keith Joe **** & The Goners
Get Out Of My Way! Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper
Behind The Wheel Tailgators
I'm In Love With My Car Queen
Cars Gary Numan
Autobahn Kraftwerk
Beep Beep The Playmates

It also begins with the sound of a MINI starting up and roaring off, and ends with a MINI horn beeping.

Lately I just listen to what my iPod chooses. 2K+ songs and always on shuffle play...Mozart, Clash, Billie Holliday, Zappa...you name it!

For you ska fans, check out The Stingers!!!! A great local band here in Austin that play grooves guaranteed to make your butt bounce...kind of a 80s 2tone feel with big brass
Motor (and rock) on...

You people need iPods to plug into the Aux input! that way, with 40 gigs of music, you wont ever with out a tune!

Im not sure when I will be able to order my MINI. Too busy being a student in Paris for the year. Maybe someday I will be gainfully employed, at which point I can buy a car. Either that, or I will have to trick my parents into cosigning a car loan!

The cool thing is that I will have ZERO college debt thats to scholarships. So whats a few grand for a MINI?? It may happen once I get back to the states (maybe never!) but Im not too worried. There are plenty of beautiful Mini's, Old and New, to keep me happy as I walk around this fantastic city thats full of fantastic people (gasp! thats right, I like french people ).

I have an Archos Jukebox 20 gig right now, with an iPod coming soon.

I have become intrigued by this product out of Rockford Fosgate that is an installable mp3 player with a twist; you can add a WiFi adaptor to is and load your music into the player from your PC while the car sits parked in the driveway. The remote looks a bit oversized, but I love the concept.

802.11b comes to the MINI (or any vehicle you put this into).

The first cd Evil Betty ever spun was a mix of Sublime, Outkast, Goldfinger, and various Techno (aphex Twin, Darube, Gigas, etc)

I grew up with a Jazz Musician as a father and so it would be easier to list what I dont listen to.

Country
Soul
"Smoove R&B"

Good call, the Archos MP3 player will get used. In addition to the CD's,

Some New Order, Coldplay, Miles Davis, B52's, Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Frank Sinatra, Serge Gainsbourg, and a dose of Wesley Willis and will make into the mix

I'm so impressed by the diversity of music on here... Good stuff!

Caio,

-Matt

I didn't want to reprint the playlist but I do want to request a copy of that CD you made. That's a very inventive mix, my friend! Burn me a copy and I, in turn, will send you a copy of the Elvis Costello live with the Sweedish Symphony recording. (Since we can't, y'know, sell this stuff...)
