Hi,

Do any of my fellow Virginians out there know if I can pass VA State inspection with my CEL light on? I am not asking for the emissions inspection because I just passed emissions earlier in the month. A week later, my CEL came on throwing the 420 code for my cat. So now I still have my state inspection due at the end of the month. Can I pass the state inspection? I know the CEL is crucial for the emissions but what about the state inspection? Last I remember, the state inspection checks everything except the emissions component. HELP!

 

Not an expert on this but 3 years back I got it inspected (no emission) with CEL on. The first shop said "No" then took it to another shop and he put the sticker. So the answer is "It depends".
