Got my first Mini today
Hi,
So I've been reading this forum for a while, and I finally picked up my 2002 Cooper S today. It was a trade in from an Audi dealer - one previous owner (lease) with 66k on the clock. Unfortunately, I have a problem already and I was hoping to get some advice.
While I was driving it home I got a warning light on the dash - I looked in the manual and it said I had a flat tyre. I pulled over and checked all the tyres (they are runflats) and they all looked fine. The light stayed on all the way home, and when I got home they all still looked OK.
I've never had runflats before so I am not sure what a flat runflat looks like, so now I am wondering - do I actually have a flat or is there something wrong with the electrics? I'm probably going to take it to the local Mini dealer on Tuesday either way (the far side indicator also fell out on the way home!) but I don't know if it's safe to drive until then.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated!
Cheers.

Check tire pressure to ensure equal inflation. Then reset the flat tire indicator - refer to the owners manual. If tires pressures are equal and the reset doesn't clear the light, probably the light/sensor.

I had the same problem when I bought my MINI about a month ago. One tire wsa about 2-3 psi lower than the rest and I filled them all up. Then while I was driving around I held the flat tire indicator button for a little bit then the light went away.
FWIW - I had this warning occur after driving in freeway construction for more than a mile with my right-hand tires on a different slope & surface than the left hand tires. After I got out of the construction zone I stopped and cleared the light. The warning has not returned.
Funny I just bought my MINI a few weeks ago and the light didn't go off (at first).
Once I had it at home I checked the pressure the next morning because one looked low. It had >10, +50, 42, and 30. I set them all to 35 and went to drive and the light came on. lol
It comes on every now and then because the one tire loses about 2 psi per day.
