Hatch will not open

One of those stupid question --- unfortunately I don't have manual and new to a 2005 Mini S. The original owner lost 1 remote key and the owner's manual.
The key is discharged, the car sitting in my garage for 3 weeks and I have no time to visit MV dept to register.

I can't open the hatch using the discharged remote key. Is there a manual opener?
I tried to press the opener at the back (top of the license plate) but will not open.

yes, there should be a release cable under the middle of the rear seat. pull it and the hatch will pop.

Try using the unlock toggle... Then outside.....if that does not work there is the "emergency release cable" as previously stated under the seat.

The unlock switch in the middle bank of switches where your window up/down dsc front/rear fog lights switches are.

A quick google search will get you a PDF version of the manual. There is also a helpful unoffiocal version with some tips and tricks...it's bookmarked on my other computer .
But I'm sure someone on this board will point you towards it!

To charge the remote . . .

The remote has a rechargable battery and recharges when in the ignition.
