New MINI owner! Some questions...
Well I've got my '06 R53 w/ 60k miles for $14.5k
It's quite nice! I'm just about down with my first tank and the OBC says 29.7mpg avg. I haven't been THAT nice too it. Perhaps it's way off though, I'll have to check later.
Anyway, there are a few issues with it that I had questions about. First thing I noticed was the windshield washer fluid light kept blinking. I checked under the hood to what I believed was the reservoir (on the driver's side) which apparently is not. I did find the actual one on the passenger's side this morning. What is that other reservoir for? The rear window?? I didn't see any jets there. Maybe the headlights?
The other problem which is much more annoying is the horn. When I got it back to the house my sister pushed it and it beeped once and that's it. A few days later I tried it again and it beeped several times and then not again since. I've seen a thread where some people said the factory horn likes to die so I'm expecting it's dead (fuses were good).
The "nice" clarion DVD touch screen no longer plays any sound. It's been frustrating. I'll look into that. I'm pretty good w/ car audio stuff. I think I'm going to sell that head unit and get something else.
Next thing on the list... belt squeaking! Almost every start from stop the belt squeaks a tad and ALWAYS when I'm getting on it and shifting into 2nd and 3rd it squeaks. There is an M7 pulley installed and I suspected that may be contributing to the problem.
Last question I had. When I remote locked the car yesterday I noticed the lights didn't flash. They had flashed every other time in the past. They still flash when I unlock it. Is there a light sensor or something that keeps them from flashing in the sun??
Only other issue I have with the car is that... it's toooo LOW! The PO had some type of sport springs installed at the MINI dealer and now I am scraping on everything! There is a black piece under the front bumper that broke and I had to cut part of it off because it was dragging on the ground. :( The black piece can't be more than 3" off the ground though.

Due for a new supercharger belt....most folks are useing the NAPA 535 belt....other stuff... All little querks to make your car more endearing!! Naww...I'm sure someone will have some input on the other stuff!
