Want to add rear fog to 2006 Mini, but...

...when I asked how much a new toggle panel/bank would cost at my MINI dealer, the price was way more expensive than what was stated in the previous posts I had read on here some time ago - they wanted well over $100. The price they wanted for the rear fog light itself was also a little high, something like $47. I was thinking the price would be more in the range of $100 for both. Then I install them myself, and then pay the dealership about $50 to turn the functionality on.

Have prices for these things really changed that much in the past year or two? Does anyone know of a cheaper place to get the toggle bank? Would a different dealership ship it to me? I'm in the southeast PA / Philly area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'd like to do this before fall really kicks in an it gets too cold.

Haven't priced them recently, but I recall ~$70. Given that our cars are now out of production, it doesn't surprise me that the parts cost would go up a bit. Have you tried Classic MINI? Mention that you are a NAM member and get 20% off.

I hear you about the getting cold thing. Sometimes in the dead of winter it will get below 40 here.

Prices on some replacement parts have been creeping up. Not unusual for cars out of production...

I just got the light kit from Mini Mania and it was $41 including shipping. I didn't bother with actually hooking up as a rear fog(on a budget), instead it is connected to the break lights for a fourth brake light.

Pretty easy. Gominigo.com sells the wire jumper ($15) but I just went to Radio Shack and got the parts myself, cost about $6 and have enough to do another one. You can get the installation instructions from the gominigo.com website and it will walk you right through it. The wire for the fog light wasn't exactly in the location that I was looking for it based on the instructions, but it was the only brown/yellow wire heading towards the bumper and they were wrapped in vinyl tape instead of the cloth tape. If you think you want to try it I can send some pictures of the hookup in my boot.
