replace the headliner?

Anyone know or seen any DIY headliner fix-it's?

my 2002 headliner is coming down bad and I need to get it fixed.. however.. only one place in town does it and the dude is saying.. "i've never done a mini before but if I break anything it's not my responsibility.."

so he kinda lost my business lol

You will have to purchase new pillar covers, as I believe the A and the C pillar covers are considered disposable. I do know that you will need to take off your rear trim panels to be able to get the the screws that hold on the B-pillar covers. I decided to re-cover my headliner and took the opportunity to purchase Anthracite pillar covers and handholds. Good point to do it if you want a dark headliner.

I would really suggest finding somebody with a bentley manual, as that is what got me through the removal of all of my interior bits. First thing to do when working near the airbag system will be to disconnect your battery and be gentle around the A and C pillars.

Taking the headliner out on your own will save you a lot of money labor-wise with the person recovering it. It is complicated, but rewarding to figure out how the car is put together.

A-pillar is number 1 in the figure above, AKA the front pillar where the windshield rests.
B-pillar is number 2 in the figure above, AKA the middle pillar where the seat belts are mounted.
C-pillar is number 3 in the figure above, AKA the rear most pillar on a R53.
