R50/53 My Mini is home
Took delivery of my CR/W Cooper S yesterday at Charleston (SC) Mini. My wife and I rented a car to drive down, and a snafu at the car rental place resulted in us getting a Volvo S80 instead of a Taurus, so the day was off to a flying start.
Upon arrival, we immediately spotted our car on the lot, and quickly got overly protective as a family with 2 kids started checking it out and put an occasional finger on the paint while we fretted in the showroom. The actual buying process was long, but made infinitely easier by the wonderful staff.
After driving off the lot, we checked into our hotel, freshened up a bit and headed towards the Battery. For you non-Southerners, the Battery is at the tip of the Charleston peninsula, where 19th century homes overlook palmetto trees, Civil War cannon and Fort Sumter at the mouth of the harbor. A full moon rose over the water as we drove along the waterfront with the windows down and sunroof open.
We then headed to one of the city's great seafood restaurants. When I told the kid parking cars that we had the Mini for about 2 hours, he parked it in a prime spot, away from other cars and where I could see it out the window. After another post-dinner lap of the city, we headed back to the hotel. All in all, an absolutely perfect Mini day.

Hello my Brothers and Sisters of the Mini-cult.
I like yourselve will one day be a minianaire
There is a Silver Black topped Mini w/Blk Bonnet stripes on Edwards AFB in Cali.
May I ask who you are? I've past your car several times and almost hit the curb
at one time. She/he is such a pretty baby. Would like to get to know all the owners
in the area so that when I receive "Curvy" (tentative name) maybe we can get together and gang up on these prime race tracks in the area. For those of you not in Southern Cali, we are rich in canyons and legal racing venues.
Gosh this is painful, I can't order mine until mid Oct. Giving up an AC Schnitzer 525i.
