R50/53 Repairs...
Just wondering in general, how does the mini compare to other cars, repair cost wise? New driver i am, so im sorta curious whether i'll be spending bags of money on fenderbenders, when i get in one :
Btw, considering a SG/SG Cooper, or a dark silver MCS

ShOeWax, just in the interest of full disclosure, you should note that the tires on an MCS will run you well over $200 each to replace once you run them out after 20 or 30K (or quicker, if you do a lot of agressive driving). Also, both cars take premium gas (92 octane), and that adds about 14 cents per gallon to what regular costs...at least in my part of the country. Other than those higher costs, maintenance should be quite inexpensive as MINIclo says.
The S has runflat tires, and that's what's responsible for the high cost. The standard Cooper has conventional tires (and a spare) and should be more economical to replace.
Of course, I have an S and absolutely love it...expensive tires (which I'm sure I'm in the process of smokin' well before 20K
) or not!

Thanks, thats what I wanted to know. Ya, I am leaning toward the SG on SG, really smooth imho.
200$ per tire is a little pricey, specially since with end of HS I'll be on my own...no mula from the folks...
THanks for the input all!

If youa re going with SG/SG, you don't have to worry about the $200 runflats, as that Colour combo is only available on the Cooper, which has a spare tire. So you can fit standard tires. Also, as far as fender benders, the MINI has some sort of system for the front and rear bumpers that allows them to pivot back and forth under low impact collisions, meaning low speed bumps shouldn't necessitate bumper replacement.
I always question cars with mondo warantee periods. It always seems to me like a way of saying, we built it like $#!+, so we'll just keep fixing it for you in the hopes you'll buy another one. I remember reading an article in a bicycling magazine a long time ago about a frame-maker in italy who hand makes all of his frames. He doesn't give any sort of warantee for his bikes. His reasoning is that he built it right the first time, and has total faith in his work. Theirfor, a warantee would be redundant, and a way of saying that he was not sure that his bike frames would be able to handle proper useage...

Hey, great color choice for the SG/SG.....very original! I've seen the SG with both white and black tops, but never solid!

then again, usually when i see a product with long warantee i think 'ohh theyre sure it wownt break, so they gimme a long warantee just to make me feel good'...*shrug* yeah for the MCS i was considering the dark silver, but since im leaning toward a MC, im liking the SG...
