Key FOB?

I just purchased a 05 MCS and was trying to program the key FOB. I found a wiki that said hold down the unlock and press the lock 3 x on the 3rd time release the unlock. Now i cannot even lock it with the FOB! How do I program the FOB again?

Thanks!

Brian

I thought the only way was to have the dealer use their machines on it.

Did you stick the key in the "accessory" position of your car for a few seconds first?

Then take it out and try again.

I'm with nabeshin on that... I thought you could only "program" at the dealer?

I found the wiki link but it does not explain what you are "programming" you fob to.. the car? or features on the car?

I had to do something with my keys after the fob's battery died - I replaced it, and it didn't unlock my car until I futzed with it for 10 minutes inside my car, so maybe that's what the person is asking about...

(I don't remember what I had to do - I kept restarting the car and changing the key position until it worked)

Try the BMW method:

1. close all doors and have all keys available
2. using key no.1 turn ignition switch on. within 5 seconds switch ignition off and remove key from ignition
3. within 30 seconds of turning switch off, press and hold unlock button
4. while continuing to hold unlock button, quickly press and release lock button three times within 10 seconds
5. release unlock button
6. if initialization was successful, all locks will be activated and released in rapid succession. if the led continues to flash or if the locking system fails to respond, repeat the procedure.

That is exactly what I was needing! Going to go try that now. Quite frustrating to have the FOB's not working. Thanks for all the replies and I will let you know if it defaults it back.

THANKS!!

That did it! My second key did not work after tying the same procedure, but I think it may need a charging. Thanks again to all!
