Well I just had a shocker of a bill from UPS.........

Just for a point of interest for all you Canadian members buying off the site, if you ship UPS go air. It might be a tad more initally but the fees that I was charged going ground would have cut my freight bill in half!

I just recieved my M7 oil catch can. Declared value on the can was $100US. Cool. its brand new, pretty good deal right? Freight cost was 26.50....I'm still in the good. With exchange my cost is 138.00 Ca funds. Thats a great deal!!

Duty, brokers fees and tax.........58.97 on top!!!!!! Total cost of can....$200!

If I was to have shipped AIR the initial freight cost was $37. That ( I was just informed by UPS) includes all the crap that they dinged me for the 58.97!!!! DOESN'T MAKE A LICK OF SENSE!!!!!!!!!!! AND I would have seen the package in 4 days rather than 10.

Point of my gripe is save yourself some money and ship air or have the sender put it down as a gift with a declared value.

Hope this saves some of you northern boys some loot.

I've found

that for international shipping from the US, USPS flat rate boxes are pretty good.

Bummer about the charges.

Some vendors are willing to state lower values than retail, but really that's a form of fraud so not all will do it. FWIW, there's a PCB company in China that lists all shipments as having declared value of $10!!!!
