so I'm looking at an '05 S, 6 speed, cold weather, no sun, manual climate, cruise (yes! my '02 S did not have that), 40k miles, HK, S-Lites.

What should be a reasonable price from a non-MINI dealer for such?

I'm sure it varies and all I know is what I got mine for. I paid 15.4K (very low option, no sun, 05 S 6 speed with 20K miles) 3 months ago. Clean car. I think I got a good price for it. Good luck!

well it all depends just try to work out the deal as low as you can and for the price that you are comfortable with. goodluck!

 

I brought that '05 home and went over it with a fine tooth comb. They wanted top dollar for a sub-top dollar car. Motor mount was leaking (but it did have the replacement thermostat), various door dings, BUT..... the strut tower mounts were mushroomed a wee bit. For the right price I could by the car and fix them myself. But t'was not to be.

Sigh.
