R50/53 The fastest MINI?
Yes, but you fail to account for the weight of those magnetic white flames. As a person who slightly remembers something I once may have heard about aerodynamics, the weight vs air dispersion factor as described make a sum difference of zero.
I'll weigh in with the Zaino issue. Lab tests* suggest that for every coating of Zaino the "splipperage advantage" in windtunnel testing is equivalent to 3.27 fewer pounds in weight at 62 mph. Even a regular Cooper that tops out at 124 mphs is 6.52 pounds lighter at that speed with just one coat. Added to the benefits of CR, my humble little CR Cooper with 15 inch tires is as fast as any stock MiniS on the road given that I have 10 coats of Zaino on her.
*Unfortunately I once took a course in journalism so cannot divulge my source

Good point, but note that your numbers are correct (weight vs air dispersion) as applied to a classic flame design only, that being flames which are very short and twiggly. Please note that these flames are very elongated. They were designed not for esthetical appeal, but purely for aerodynamic enhancement!

It's OK, Charlie. I'm frustrated too, especially since no one has realized that black is the fastest color. We're just so stealth that people notice the brighter cars flying by them. We cruise silent, but quick.
If you sit low in your seat... you might lesson resistance and even lower the CG!
On another note... The MCS is slightly longer than the MC --- means the MC diplaces less air, less resistance. Not to mention the unsightly scoop that increases grad.
Also, the tires are lighter, thinner (depending on spec) so the friction coeffient would be less with the pavement.
Besides... when you move your head real fast from left to right (or vice versa, depending on MINI's direction) they all look fast. And they ain't even moving yo!

Sorry, Charlie, if you think we've gone off topic and belong there. I think you developed a fun thread that shows many creative people with humor. I've been enjoying the posts but maybe some of us are not understanding where you were going with your initial question, so taking it lightly may have kidnapped your intent. If so, regrets.

That is true and I like stealh, especially in MGS but thats something else.

There once was a poet named "Beagle"
Whose Mini was sharp as an eagle
but when constructing his verse
It was clearly adverse:
Stick with Coopers they're regal!

first start with a s model, add brg, bonnet stripes to keep the air cool in the engine, add pulley, remove large antanna, replace headlight fluid with teflon liquid so when you get over 100 mph spray the fluid to reduce the wind resistance [teflon is proven to be effective in reducing anything from sticking to a surface]. finally add a high octane fuel with small igniters in the s tail pipes and i think you could win at this game. or just ask GE if you could have the engine that they are using on the wright flyer commercial when they are through with it. im sure the drag of the roof rack would be compensated for. you know thrust over drag, its the shuttle principal. hope this helps sorry dont have the funds to try my experiment but i heard two brothers tried this once in new mexico. im not sure if anyone has heard of their results.

There once was a MINI named Cooper
it's blown engine would only take super
its curves were bombastic,
its handling fantastic,
but no super made Cooper a blooper

Thanks Charlie! Glad I could help!
Of course, the problem is finding the little black stealth car in the parking lot at night. I should've gotten the white roof!

>>That's because the white flames help with laminar flow and boundary layer smoothing (by kicking in just enough of a vortex), and then towards the rear of the car by creating a larger set of syncrhonized vortices that actually run around the rear of the car, with the energy of the vortex turbulence used to give the car another bit of forward kick!
