So I have the air bag light on now, great! Hooray!!

I have read that there is a TSB for Mini's in the USA but I am wondering if there was any extended warranty for Canada if it is the wiring harness under the seats?

If it is lit do the air bags still work in the event of a crash? And what is the best /most cost effective code reader to order?

Just take it into your local dealer and ask them to check what code is being thrown for the airbag. Yes there is a TSB that covers your MINI for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles. I would think that it wouldn't matter whether the MINI was in the US or Canada, but you won't know for sure until you take it in.

Depending on why the code was thrown, will determine whether or not your airbags will work in the event of an accident. There's no way of knowing until you find out why the light came on.
