I'm pretty happy with the MINI stock. I'd do more or less like I have, I've got tires wheels for the track (no compromise performance) and regular street tires for a little comfort. Then I'd spend the extra odd $13k on track days, that should last a few years.

The computer technology & engineering we have today have made them more reliable and long lasting. This is just my opinion and no offense.
Are we talking R56 or R53, cause I have not seen too many reliable R53's that are turbo. Cause on weekends I would like to drive it across the state for track days at different locations like Sears Point, Laguna Seca and actually make it there running, cause I still have to go home afterwards and to work on monday. I know turbos work on subies, BMW, Porsche and even R56 MINIs, I'm just saying I have not seen them work consistently on a R53 to use as a track toy (road course not a drag stripper), as daily driver in LA traffic and on weekend excursions to like Las Vegas, SF, Tahoe. But now if we eliminated the whole $15k limit thing and say I won the Lotto Mega Millions. I would keep my GP, buy a 06 BRG/W MCS, and a Hot Orange Convertible MCS and a MY R56 MCS JCW. (plus 13 other cars) And I would definatley experiment with a 3 hundred and something horse power turbo set up on a R53, but I would not drive it to the track I would haul it in my brand new Flying A Motorsports Coach:

Of course all black

Go to Mini-Madness site and if you can find Randy Webb winning races on their Twin-charged R53. Yes it is a combination of S/C and Turbo but the Turbo is there to make big HP numbers.

a couple of post have mentioned clutch upgrades (fx200). probably a definite if hp/torque are really gonna be increased, eh?

for those with upgraded clutches (with or without incr hp/torque) - what's your opinion on driveability and/or delivery/smoothness of power?
