R50/53 From S2000 to MCS?
I love the S2000, a former gf of mine had one. And if equipped with the right snow tires, they do very well in the snow as long as it's not too deep--and one knows how to drive a RWD car in the snow.
right now the Honda d'ship next to my MINI d'ship has a few 08s for under $30K.

I too came from an S2000 to the Mini, and there are several reasons why. What it really boils down to was that something was wrong with my 2.5L build and I couldn't afford to continue to fix it. Though it probably didn't need much, I had just finished college and was on my way to start my career in aviation. I needed a car that I could rely on and a 2.5L S2k wasn't it.
I had several cars on my mind, like you, and the Mini wasn't one of them. But one day driving by my local BMW dealership I saw the Mini parked right out front and decided I'd test drive it. WOW, I didn't think I would be able to get the smile that my S2000 gave me back. The Mini really was that fun to drive. I did some research and found them to be reliable and decided it was the car for me. This was just over a year ago. Do I miss the S2k, well yes, at times. Mostly just when its raining out and I hit the gas wishing the tail would just slide out, but instead I get the expected understeer
. All in all, I've been very happy with the Mini...and with a few modifications (check my sig) it can really dominate. The only power mods I have a pulley, intake, and just recently added exhaust. Mostly its suspension, lsd, and braking.
Be prepared for lots of WHY questions, the Mini is a drivers car and many people have never driven one to understand that so when you tell them you used to have an S2k they'll think you are crazy.

I too got alot of weird looks and comments when i got my MINI from those that saw and knew i had a S2K. Alot of people dont understand how i went from a thourbred like the S to a Mini. "A Mini???" many have said. But i swear, i'll own one again sooner or later.
