Inner CV boot install

I have a split inner CV boot and have ordered a new one. Do I have to remove the control arm and steering tie rod to do this? Do I have to drain the transmission? Whats the simlest way to do this install?

You don't have to drain trans fluid as long as you leave the inner cv joint alone and slide out the half shaft. Make sure to clean the joint up and re-lube before slamming it home! You don't need to remove the control arm either; just pop the outer ball joint.
