R50/53 High Pitch Squeal
Driving my S on the turnpike today with the windows open at approx. 65 mph. Noticed a high pitch squeal, sort of like the sound that the wear sensor on brake pads make when time to change. However my S only has 2500 miles on it and I can't figure out where this sound is coming from. Anyone else had anything like this happen?
Don't think so. Had the windows down sun roof open A/C off. The only way I can hear it is if I'm next to a barrier or going under an overpass. Anyplace that will contain the sound. On the open highway I haven't been able to hear it. It goes in Monday. I just hope I can get it to make the noise for the tech.
Second trip for service in two weeks. First trip - power steering container empty. All fliud in the boots. Replaced the steering rack and pump.

This same sort of sound was driving me crazy until I found it, and I'm w/ the others on the recirc being the culprit. Here's your test: make sure the recirc button is lit. Crank things up to 75-85 mph, or until you detect the squeal, then push the recirc button so the LED goes out. I'd be willing to bet that the sound stops instantly. Try this and let us know what happens.
