R50/53 After market wheels
I plan to purchase after-market wheels as soon as my MINI S comes in. My question is: Would you suggest selling the stock wheels w/ the run flat tires or sell them separately and put the run flats on the after-market wheels? How much will the wheels sell for separately and as a tire/wheel set. 17 in. S-Lite allow wheels.
Ordered: MINI S, Production date 9/27, Indie Blue, Aero Kit, Sport Pack. Sunroof, White roof & Mirrors. Cannot wait. Thank you for your suggestions.

In order to "do the right thing", you first need to check if the non-runflat & runflat wheels & tires are interchangeable. I thought I recalled that they were NOT. This would make your options much more expensive (new wheels AND tires).
Anyone know for sure? (I thought it had to do something with retaining the tire on the rim in case of pressure loss).

Mike;
My suggestion(because you're asking) would be to get rid of the runflat tires. Most tire shops accept trade-ins towards the purchase of new tires. And being that your tires are will be brand new, and runflat technology, they could be worth a pretty penny towards new tires. Or sell privately.
But like it has been mentioned before. If you were to get a puncture/flat with the runflat tire, you pretty much have to notice it right away, or else the tire is junk. Runflats are tough to repair if they have been run for more than a little bit. At least that is what I've been hearing since they've been introduced. Than you're looking at some serious coin to get a new tire that will most likely take awhile to get, due to the lag in availability of them.
I would also keep the stock wheels for winter driving if you plan on it, or if you have snow where you are. If not, sell 'em. More $$$ for new rims and tires!! Woo hoo!
I wouldn't mix the runflats with aftermarket rims though.
Just my opinion.
Cheers,
