I only have to dish out around $640, and I'm a 21-year-old guy. Though I keep "forgetting" to pay my insurance... for like 2 1/2 years now, so the parents have been taking care of it, mwahahaha.

I recommend AMICA (800-24-AMICA). They quoted me $900/year (with $500 deductible) in Boston, which is a very high theft/vandalism area statistically. Might have something to do with the fact that I actually live about 100 feet outside of Boston in the town of Brookline, which is very wealthy and a lot safer (the all-important zip code effect on car insurance rates).

Also I'm a 26-year-old male, which according to an insurance company means I should be smashing into everything in my path, so I was pleasantly surprised by the low rate.

I just got my new policy -- which includes the MINI -- yesterday. The annual premium on the MCS is about $1,100...but I get a $300 safe driver credit...so the final is around $800/yr. That's about $150 more than I pay for my 2001 minivan (which cost new about 50% more than the MCS!), and about $200 more than I was paying for my old Nissan. The increase was totally confined to the theft portion of the premium.

I think this is in keeping with what my agent told me about the MINI being classified as a "high theft" vehicle by the underwriters.

I'm having to pay about $450 every six months in San Francisco -- which isn't cheap city for auto ins. But it could be worse if I didn't have multi-line coverage. Carrier is State Farm and even though I did tons of research, could not find a lower-priced, comparable deal.

My insurance agent quoted $73 per month for my insurance as a second car with a clean driving record. Funny, it's only 33 cents per month more than what I pay for the 1994 Chevy Blazer that I drive now. Huge 4x4 vs itsy bitsy MINI...same insurance!

I added my MCS to my current insurance (full coverage and all that). My insurance runs till the end of January and it cost me an extra $183. When I manage to get rid of the 1982 Cressida, I should get about 1/2 of that back.

I'm paying 860 CDN per year in Montreal, about 520 US. Lulu is my only car, I have to pay an Xtra 300Us for my 21 year old son to be full covered. I drive approx 12 K miles a year.

It is cheaper than my 1995 Infiniti G20 was.
