Name calling

So.
As I was vacuuming and cleaning Emily ('02 MCS, absolutely trouble-free) this morning, I got to thinking about car names.
My ex-wife got me naming my cars many years ago, and the name Emily just came to me within a day or so of my getting her.
So I was curious how other owners came about naming their cars.
Especially Nabeshin.
Merry Christmas (Good Yontif) to everyone.

Hegira

Prior to Emily was a '97 Audi A4 (Sophie), a '94 Volvo 780 Bertone Coupe' (Lola), and a '93 Saab 9000 CSE (Baab [Baab the Saab. Get it? Sorry]).

I always name my MINIs MeShKy. It sort of sounds like a German name to me HaHaHa... As some of you may already know...I have a Tattoo on my left shoulder of Rat Fink driving a black MINI Cooper S and the front plate says MeShKy.
The true reason is after three very improtant ladys in my life. Me=Melissa (Wife), Sh=Shelby (Oldest Daughter), Ky=Kyndle (Youngest Daughter)

I never named a car before the MINI. Still didn't have one after about a month then went on a little road trip to see Breakfast at Tiffanys. I am an Audrey Hepburn fan, and after leaving the theater it just seemed like a good idea.

Well, I think that Japanese names go well with cute things. So I chose Mayumi because it seemed to fit. It's one of the cuter names and it has some cool nicknames too - Mayu or Yumi.

Marblehead? I have family there. (in laws) beautiful place.
My clubman will be called Sloopy-- as in Hang on Sloopy- I was inspired when I was watching Sloopy come across the pond and the Undine was fighting high winds and high seas......get it? Hang on Sloopy...... grin. I am originally from Ohio---go Bucks! ( this is their signature song)

I had the 2.8 litre 6 cyl.
Not a lot of pep, or much potential of it, but generally bullet-proof as far as longevity and dependability. And ABSOLUTELY the most fun car to drive in the snow I've ever driven.

well, since i'm addicted to MarioKart (well, enjoy playing any super mario game for that matter), when i got my MINI, i started thinking about how it would sound like to say to my friends, "i drive a mini cooper." then the word "cooper" stuck in my head and i realize the shell and the turtle from the game is named "koopa". thus my car's name "koopa" and also my internet name "jbkoopa". my car is small but fast, just like koopa. lol.

Oboe - I first though Oreo but didn't want to go with that, and Oboe just popped into my head and felt right.

The only other vehicle I've named was my '71 Chevy truck. Her name was Thirsty for obvious reasons.

I'm an O.C. fan, so she's Marissa "Mini" Cooper, as in the character Marissa Cooper. I've started referring to her by name without even realizing it. I'll say, "I need to give Marissa a bath" and my friends will look at me weird and ask "Who's Marissa?".

My '04 Honda Civic was named Ruby because the color was called Radiant Ruby Pearl. Never called it by name, or referred to it as "her" like I do with Marissa.

My '83 Honda Prelude was Smurfette because she was blue.

The much loathed '96 Saturn SL wasn't named because it didn't deserve personalization.
