R50/53 Name calling
Many years ago my sister and her husband bought a yellow VW bug convertable with a black top. My other sister, just back from Germany, named it "Gleb Vogelin" meaning "little yellow bird". As the letter "V" in German is pronounced as an "F" the car was named "Fogie". That car lasted forever so the name was around our family for a long time. My mini is black over mellow yellow so when everyone saw it they started calling it "Fogie". That was fine with me, as BMW built her, but it is a guy's car after all, so I ordered a dragon roof grafic in yellow. Dragons are birds, sort of.......

I grew up naming our cars..to me in was a must! My friends used to make fun of me and my sister, but we didn't care. My first car was a yellow Bug, her name was Ellie, but then my sister got a Mini and named her "Evey"...and once I drove her Mini, I knew I had to have one, so I turned in Ellie, and got "Lexi". Older cars we had were: Eva, Bruiser, Little Fay, Old Timer, Purple People Eater, The Ghost, Namaste, and Angus. LOL. We had A LOT of cars...
It just happened when I was building the car(s) on the configurator. I built an S first, and the named 'Emerson' emerged. Then I built my Cooper, thinking that Emerson was gonna be it, but 'Obie' just insisted on making its presence known, so Obie it was and is.
Haha,
for "Butter Stotch". Lu lu lu, I got some apples...
Like many of you, the first time I saw my car the name just popped in my head. It's actually kinda fitting since I'm a Douglas Adams fan. I never call him Doug...Douglas is a serious bad ***.

...Lu lu lu, I got some too...funny you said that...my other car is named Apple.
It's a Ford Fuc...Focus (don't judge
) Red exterior & light tan interior...like an apple.
P.S. Your quote made my day...thank you greatly

Named mine Charlie. When I bought him, he was all Dark Silver. I mean all Dark Silver. Roof, mirrors, body, and even color match S-lites. Not being the traditional 2-tone, I saw him as a misfit in the MINI world. Just like the Charlie-in-a-box was a misfit toy.

At the risk of offending people, I will let you in on my name...
I never named a car before, but then again I've never had one with much character. I decided I should name the 03 MCS I picked up about a month ago. After a lot of debate with friends and family, it hit me like a ton of bricks.
I named my car Freddie after Freddie Mercury. First, I'm a big Queen fan. Second, the car is British, an amazing performer, and -according to my mates- really gay.
Before you flame me...I should let you know I received approval from a gay friend
