Question about the MCS hood

Is it a bad idea to put a hood from a non-S on to the Cooper S? Is the hood scoop functional? Will my car get ridiculously heat soaked if I run it with a non-S hood? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question, but inquiring minds need to now.

I'm pretty sure the hood lines are completely different and a Cooper Hood will hit the intercooler when closed. I don't think it would even come close to closing.

If you're talking about the supercharged model (2002-2006), then yes, the scoop is very functional and you'd need a different intercooler setup (front mount, W2A) to change out the hood, from what I understand.

Ok thanks. I figured as much, never hurts to ask though.
