R50/53 Are black MINIs rare or just unwanted?
I was looking for a charcole grey one first cause black ones are so hard to find. My girl said I should get a black for just that reason so I hunted till I found one and I'm so glad I did

I must agree on this too. Sometimes I actually get irritated by all the people who gawk after Lilith when she's all washed and purty. I especially hate it when I'm trying to pull out onto a street and someone coming down the road slows down and stares. I'm like "Hurry up please !!!!!" Fun times though.
Well, having went from a Solid Gold/Black Cooper to a JB/JB Cooper S, I'd have to say that the lighter colors do a good job of showing off the lines of the MINI, but Black MINIs do a good job of showing off the "aggressiveness" of the car. I think most people who opt for Black MINIs are either outlaws or dark people. I really fit both bills. The downfall to Black cars in general is the amount of swirl marks and blemishes that can be seen. Since the previous owner of my S didn't know how to take care of the paint, it's not in the best of condition. But it does look strikingly beautiful waxed. If JB wasn't such a rare color, I'd have mine painted matte black.
). People with particular attitudes tend to surround themselves with commodities that reflect that attitude. I went with the white bonnet stripes because it looks cool and I needed a *little* bit of light in the darkness. Thus goes the call of the hopeful cynic... Me too!!

Not exactly the description I would have given...but that is a SWEET looking ride.
I love Jet Black as much as I love Indi Blue. They're both stunning colors, IMO.
Astro Black never really did it for me - somehow, it seemed like a half baked effort to make either a dark blue, or a black...and I think they failed at both. lol
I couldn't believe how many silver and red MINIs I came across when shopping around for an Indi Blue MCS (another seemingly hard-to-find color on an MCS). It took me over a year of searching before I settled on my '04.
Something I really don't like about my Indi Blue (probably applies to Jet Black or any other dark color) - rock chips, scratches, door dings, dirt, etc. all seem to STAND OUT. I just want to cry whenever I wash my car - seems I notice more rock chips and door dings every time. And I park out in the far reaches of parking lots too. Ugh!

We all have made this mistake at one point in time. Don't beat yourself up over it. I regret selling my 1973 Austin Mini back in July of 2006. The sheer thought of it upsets me at times, but you know, we all make mistakes at times. You can get another 2005 Cooper S. I myself am trying to get orders back to England for 2 years just to get another classic.
Yep, I am looking for a 05 MINI at this point! We have 2 at the Dealership right now, but I am not to hot on either color. I either want full black or Red with a black top. The used car factory seems to be moving really slow right now!
Oh, you sold MINIs AND are a MA !! Wow, you should have the hook up then. Well, I'll be right out honest with you. At first, I swore I'd never own a BMW branded Mini. After I paid my truck off at the end of October of 2003, the very beginning of November, I spotted a Solid Gold/B Cooper on a lot. I swear, it was something about that car that just caught my eye. I was at the lot, and had the car the next day. Now, I wasn't too fond of the color, and it did take me a while to get used to it, but it was an awesome car. It's also another car I regret getting rid of. I traded it in on the crappy JB Cooper S I have now. But, as far as color goes, sometimes you just have to go with the flow.
MiniFaron, check out post 1 above. I am getting an '09 JCW and this black one will go up for sale soon.
I live in a MINI-dense neighborhood in Seattle, there are 7 that I'm aware of within an approx. 2 mile radius and including mine FOUR are black! A couple of them are Astro Black however, which makes me feel like slightly more of an individual.
I love Jet Black but as it's been said before, it's a beeotch to keep clean and there's a big difference between clean and dirty when it comes to black.
