So ive in the middle of my search for the right mini for me ive looked at alot of dark silver and a couple of red ones i just stumbled across a 05 black loaded S local to me and I realized that I dont think ive ever seen a black mini. I know they are made but you just dont see them too offen. ive always been a fan of dark/black cars. anyone have any info?
Sinister Black MINIs look awesome. Especially with smoked lenses, black rims and dark window tint. But unless you are willing to do almost-daily cleaning, especially in foul-weather areas, another color may be more appropriate.
My LY/W MINI can be really dirty but still look presentable if the windows are clean. Silver is another color that hides surface dirt very well.
Now that you mention it i don't really see that many black MINIs around...then again I live in Florida so black has many draw backs. I do love blacked out MINIs though.
yep i wanted black. Nothing cooler than a murdered out Mini...but Astro Black is ugly compared to jet black, and I am meticulous about a clean car.... black would be the death of me lol...been there done that
that's a link to the jet black thread... best color ever! i have an 03 jb/jb mcs while my ex just purchased a jet black/white r50 with the anthracite interior... really clean! my vespa is jet black too... or vespa's version of the color hahah
The members here who have black Minis are the exception because they keep their cars so clean so they look great. But in my opinion, when you see a common Mini (if there is such a thing) and it is black, it looks like some ordinary small car. And I love black cars in all other instances. Most of the cars I've owned over the years have been black. But I prefer a medium or lighter color to show off the beautiful lines of the Mini.

Well, having went from a Solid Gold/Black Cooper to a JB/JB Cooper S, I'd have to say that the lighter colors do a good job of showing off the lines of the MINI, but Black MINIs do a good job of showing off the "aggressiveness" of the car. I think most people who opt for Black MINIs are either outlaws or dark people. I really fit both bills. The downfall to Black cars in general is the amount of swirl marks and blemishes that can be seen. Since the previous owner of my S didn't know how to take care of the paint, it's not in the best of condition. But it does look strikingly beautiful waxed. If JB wasn't such a rare color, I'd have mine painted matte black.
When looking for my MINI, the value guide I was using had a deduction for black in my area. I bid on 3 MINI's, the one I wanted most was black. Awesome color, IMHO.....

That price reduction in whichever value guide you were using may be due to the fact JB is a non-metallic color. Same with CR & PW.
Hmmmmm... CR&PW&JB, all non-metallic colors. Anyone see a theme here ?

I have to disagree somewhat... No other color showcases the sinuously arcing flanks of the car as well as Jet Black does. The pic in your sig is a great example of this!

Now this is something I really must object to! I've never failed to turn heads when Toby's been washed, waxed and had his trim and tires dressed. There is simply nothing more stunning than a flawlessly clean Jet Black MINI.
That said... driving a Jet Black this winter has sucked so far... there's been scarcely a clear day to wash it and it's filthy! The shame!
My 7 Series is the BMW jet black that you describe and I love that traditional black color. But as stated I love black Whips but they are the mother of all Faukers to keep looking pristine. They scratch so easily and dirty so quickly. I am in agreeance that the mini has such unique lines having bright colors seem to suit the overall model of car better.
I've actually seen a black Clubman! Even the wheels were black! Does that count?
Uhhhhhhh... I don't think that was really black. I think that was JB Wannabe, also known by some as Astro Black. Known better by some as Astro Blueblack.
