Best I have for gold (a 'burban blocked the rest):

only one MINI got across the ford, before it got too bad, and only 'cause she was goin too fast. Even the truck on the other side knew better than to cross:

Great, great pics. Ah the memories. Years ago, we did a bicycle tour in the Hill Country covering 603 miles in a week.... towns like Kerrville, Utopia, Austin, San Marcos, etc, etc, etc.

Day one was San Antonio to Austin via San Marcos. I think we did 113 miles that day and ended up at a friend's house. Longnecks and cheese in the hottub ended a very long day. From there, we headed out Bee Caves Rd. I'd have to go to a map to remember the rest of the route but Marble Falls or something like that comes to mind.

Obviously, I was a lot younger in 1979 that I am now. My buddies were on a Schwinn Paramount tandem and these brothers (twins!) were the only tandem riders that I've ever seen to both stand and crank up hills together. On the downhills, I'd grab their rear rack and get a nice pull going downhill. It was AWESOME. They didn't care for it when I did that going uphill.

Thanks for reminding me of how pretty the Hill Country is.

And, if anyone is looking for a special charity in that part of Texas, consider supporting CAMP: Children's Association for Maximum Potential ... http://www.serve.com/campcamp/ I was with Chris Johnson for the first ever camp w-a-y back in 1980 just before I got out of the USAF. She's got a special place in heaven for the good work she's done!

Enough rambling... back to Mini's.
