Hey all,

So I'm considering moving to Harpers Ferry, WV. The price/performance of the houses out there are great considering how terrible the housing market has become in northern VA and suburban MD.

So, Katie and I were motoring all around the Harpers Ferry area, scouting out houses, and I can't tell you how many Good Ol' Boys in pickup trucks tried to smack us around as we zipped up and down the windy mountain roads up there. I embarrassed more than a few that tried to stay on our tail by downshifting and pounding our MCS into the twisties. There's even a sweet spot right at the base of a mountain (where 671 meets 340, for those who know the area), where I did a wicked heel-toe and left a pickup behind me at the red light.

While I hate that anyone would try to bully anyone else who drives a small car, I sure enjoyed out-driving the locals.

Oh yeah, and we saw some houses, too

John Brown's body lies a moldin' in the Grave.

Harper's Ferry raid of 1859.

Confederate sacking of the armory 1861.

Many Ghosts in those parts.

I'm from Eastern WV. Once you get past all the good ol' boys that try to run you over, it is a very pleasant place. WV has the best roads ever too  It makes for really fun times in my RS.

Took the MC to WV on Saturday evening myself. VA/WV 9 from Leesburg across to Martinsburg and then up I-81. There was some Harley thing going on in Martinsbrug on Saturday evening.

I always get amused by the reaction I get the minute I cross over into WV. The MINI is pretty common nowadays here in Northern VA, but drive a half hour and cross over into WV and people start getting whiplash!
