Check Engine Light Issue

So, driving back from the supermarket literally 20 minutes ago. The Check engine light pops on. I am going to have it looked at saturday seeinga s I am going away til friday.
Question, does check engine normally detail that there is a problem only? Or do the 04 MCS, have engine serviced light in order to get the "check up"? Or do I seem off base?

Check engine lite means something is running outside of parameters. Need to get the code read and problem fixed. Could be anything from a loose gas cap to something serious.

don't be to worried yet.
Get the code read and go from there... many autoparts stores will read and reset the SES light.
Once you know what it is ...if you need help ... please ask

Hey,
So I went out to the car this morning, and looked things over. After seeing that there was NO radiator coolant in the car, I made the assumption that it was the problem. Got in the car, turned it opn, and to my surprise no check engine. No check engine all the way to work. Then during lunch I drove to the auto parts place, put coolant in. After I put the coolant in, and drive about 50 feet out of the lot, the check engine light goes on again.

So, thanks for all of the help. I am going to not worry about it as much and have it read. Thanks for all of the help guys. I will post what happens. Or maybe if I need some help I will most surley ask for it again. Thanks again.

If the light goes out again, don't worry, the code will still be stored in the system.

Well, since you went to the parts store... didn't you have the code read? And let me get this straight, you drove it for how long without coolant?

The SES light is usually indicative of some sort of emissions problem.
